Incarnate Word Academy Mission Statement
The mission of Incarnate Word Academy is to challenge young women of faith to achieve their God-given potential as academically successful Women of the Word, following the example of Jesus, the Incarnate Word, by promoting human dignity,
thereby empowering themselves and others to make a positive impact on our world.
World Languages Department Mission Statement
The Foreign Language department at Incarnate Word Academy is dedicated to helping students communicate effectively in French or Spanish.
The program cultivates an awareness and appreciation of the diversity of social and cultural values both in the United States and in other countries.
In an increasingly global society and ever more diverse American culture, it becomes the responsibility of the Foreign Language department
to give students the linguistic and cultural tools which will prepare them for their place in a far more interrelated world.
Developing these skills expands their critical understanding and helps students make sound decisions about themselves as they relate to individuals, their community and the world. In the future, Women of the Word will be prepared to compete for career opportunities
due to their additional linguistic abilities and expanded perspectives.
World Languages Department Goals
Teachers will assign an oral presentation which requires students to conduct research using technology and communicate in the target language.
Oral Presentations support Standard 1.3 which indicates that students present information, concepts and ideas to an audience of listeners
or readers on a variety of topics.
